It's time for the principled leader Minnesota deserves. I'm running for Congress because I'm ready to bring my record of delivering real results for the people of Minnesota to Congress.
Carla Nelson is a leader in the Minnesota Senate, a former teacher, a mother, and a small business owner.
A champion of economic growth in the State Senate, Carla is a proven leader for fiscally responsible budgets, lower taxes for southern Minnesota families, and strong, pro-student and parent education policies.
Carla Nelson learned the values of hard work, accountability and responsibility from her parents, both of whom were teachers, and from spending summers working on the family farm. After graduating from the University of Minnesota she began her teaching career where Carla taught the fundamentals and importance of literacy to children at a young age.
Carla never imagined getting involved in politics, but when local politicians tried to deny kids a neighborhood park, she got to work and has been fighting for the community ever since. As a principled conservative Carla spent her career as a public servant supporting Minnesota farmers, veterans, schools and local businesses. In the state legislature, Carla opposed the largest tax increase ever and fought against more burdensome regulations. If elected to Congress, Carla will continue fighting for Minnesota in Washington.
Carla and her husband Terry are small business owners, and Carla is a nationally recognized leader in the insurance industry. As a longtime resident of the first district, Carla has been involved with the Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs Board of Directors, Office on the Economic Status of Women Advisory Committee, Capitol Area Architectural Planning Board of Directors, and is also active in the Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Orchestra & Chorale, and the Next Chapter Ministries.
