CatholicVote touted Carla's ability to win on a pro-life message where other Republicans struggle
(Rochester) - This morning, CatholicVote.org, a conservative Catholic political organization with over 500,000 members nationwide announced their endorsement of Carla Nelson in the Republican Primary in Minnesota's 1st District. CatholicVote.org has joined Susan B. Anthony List, the premier pro-life organization in the nation, Winning for Women, and other conservative groups across the nation in endorsing Carla Nelson's campaign.
Announcing their endorsement, CatholicVote.org President Brian Burch released the following statement:
“Carla Nelson has consistently been a steadfast ally of the unborn and working families while serving in the state legislature in Minnesota. Moreover, Washington D.C. desperately needs the input of strong pro-life women. For these reasons, we strongly encourage voters in this important district to support Carla Nelson for Congress — and for Catholics nationwide to support Nelson’s candidacy.
“This congressional race provides a rare opportunity in 2018 to flip a seat into pro-life hands. This district went for Trump by a whopping 15 percentage points. Unfortunately, that margin wasn’t enough to deliver a win for that year’s GOP congressional nominee. By contrast, Carla Nelson was on the ballot in 2016 in a competitive state senate district and actually outperformed Donald Trump’s numbers.”
Carla Nelson accepted the endorsement saying:
"I am incredibly honored to have received the endorsement of CatholicVote.org. More than 20% of Minnesota's 1st District is Catholic and the issues that the Catholic community in Southern Minnesota cares about are the issues that I care about: defending our most vulnerable such as the unborn, defending the religious freedom of Catholics and Christians as a whole, and fighting for our middle-class."
