Candidate Open House

Last Friday, Sen. Carla Nelson participated at the candidate open house, sponsored by the Rochester League of Women Voters, at the Charter House in downtown Rochester. Nearly 200 were in attendance, many of them seniors living at Charter House.
“It was such a wonderful opportunity to meet with voters, and especially our senior voters,” said Sen. Nelson. “And, of course, it was also a pleasure to connect with many friends again, to talk with them, and learn what their concerns are, and how the legislature can address those concerns.”
Many of the candidates running for office in the Rochester area were present, for house and senate races in the Minnesota Legislature, the U.S. House of Representatives, Rochester City Council, the Olmsted County Commission, and local school boards. Citizens representing ballot initiatives and constitutional amendments were also on hand.
“This is what participatory democracy looks like,” added Nelson. “We are blessed to live in a country where you can peacefully go to a forum like this, and meet candidates from both sides of the aisle, and get information on both sides of the issues.”
And making everything run smoothly were our campaign’s volunteers (pictured above), who’ve been so crucial to our candidate’s success. Thanks so much for all you do, volunteers!
