Letter Writer to the Post-Bulletin: Nelson Fights for Jobs and Lower Taxes
From today’s Post-Bulletin:
In a high-stakes election year such as this one, I am starkly reminded that talking points aren’t plans, buzzwords aren’t ideas, and that political discourse often prizes distraction over depth. Particularly as politicians find themselves short of genuine substance or true innovation, blame is brandished like a shield to deflect the increasing heat of public scrutiny.
Despite a two-year Democratic majority, our president blames Republicans for his nonexistent budget. Despite receiving legislation three weeks before the shutdown, our governor skipped crucial meetings and vetoed the budget in entirety, blaming Republicans while Minnesotans paid the price.
One longs for any leader that actually puts people ahead of political points. In District 26, Carla Nelson is that leader. In this very diverse district, she listens to all of her constituents. Minnesota Police and Firefighters, The Minnesota Medical Association, Minnesota Farm Bureau, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Minnesotans for Jobs and Economic Growth and many other groups endorse her.
Carla helped take our state from a $6 billion deficit to a surplus of $1.4 billion. She’s made Minnesota more job-friendly by fighting taxes that harm economic expansion.
Personally, I’ve witnessed her tireless energy and ability to connect with people regardless of income, race, education, gender or political stance.
Vote for Carla Nelson Nov. 6. We need her clear voice for Minnesotans now more than ever.
