Letter: Carla Nelson has proven her commitment to higher education

I write this letter to acknowledge Sen. Carla Nelson’s commitment to higher education in our state. Sen. Nelson uniquely understands that each sector has a strong role in educating our workforce.

Many students will excel in a traditional, liberal arts college setting, whether private or public, and will be well-equipped to meet employer needs. Other students will be better suited with a vocational, career-specific pathway.

Minnesota has long been a state committed to student choice in higher education. Because of this position, we have been able to attract many Fortune 100 and 500 companies to our great state to take advantage of our educated workforce.

Sen. Nelson understands reducing college choice in our state will continue to widen the skills gap and leave both students and employers without options. Sen. Nelson is a champion of the student. She understands the value of higher education and will fight to improve opportunities for all students to find a successful pathway to the workforce.
