Letter: Sen. Nelson has earned support through her bipartisan efforts

It’s election time again and, as usual, campaign signs are popping up everywhere. I’ve seen signs of all sizes and colors promoting candidates for state and local offices. Yet, there is one sign that seems to show up in yards promoting a variety of races. These red signs are for Minnesota Sen. Carla Nelson.
I would like to see Sen. Nelson return to St. Paul. She is someone who looks out for Olmsted County interests and pocketbooks, someone who speaks clearly and with civility, someone who reaches across the aisle to get good things done.
Rather than trying to score political points, Sen. Nelson takes a bipartisan approach to problem-solving — exactly what we need in this super-partisan environment.
We have a Nelson sign on our front lawn. Two days after it went up, our neighbor displayed a sign supporting a candidate for a different party. Good for her and good for us.
No matter what your party affiliation may be, political signs represent community involvement, and we all can be proud of that. These signs show that we care. So the next time you pass political signs give a cheer. Democracy is alive and well in Minnesota.
