Letter: Sen. Nelson supports colleges, students and workforce

Once an educator always an educator. This is true of Sen. Carla Nelson, who taught at Holmes Elementary and Willow Creek Middle schools. For years, Carla worked with us to bring University of Minnesota to Rochester in 2007.
Recently, Carla Nelson authored and fought for an innovative UMR program to support students who have recovered from addictions. That program is now a model statewide.
She authored innovative, successful legislation which funded the Work Force Development Center at RCTC and needed classroom updates. Sen. Nelson is a member of the Governor’s Workforce Development Board and a leader in workforce solutions.
At a time of unprecedented student debt levels and a staggering workforce shortage, we must keep Sen. Carla Nelson working for us, our students, colleges and community.
