Letter: Sen. Nelson has helped address state’s mental health needs
Originally published in the Post Bulletin
Lots of politicians talk about tackling tough issues, but State Sen. Carla Nelson gets the job done.
Our state and nation need to do a better job addressing mental health issues. Sen. Nelson co-sponsored the Excellence in Mental Health Act, which will help Minnesota create a set of mental health and addiction outpatient services provided by local Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics. CCBHC’s will serve individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse disorders through a wide array of comprehensive evidence based practices that will include treatment, prevention and wellness services.
We are one step closer to transforming the way mental health services are delivered in our state because of Sen. Nelson’s hard work. Let’s keep her working for us in St. Paul.
